Egidio Gherlizza, (Trieste, 6 agosto 1909 – Milano, 1995) born in Triest, graduated from the Liceo Artistico and began his career writing theatre plays for several companies. In the 1930s, he drew his first humorous comic stories for Bertoldo and other juvenile magazines.
For Edizione Alpe, he made comics versions of fairy tales and cooperated with varying scriptwriters on creations like ‘La Famiglia Chicchirichi’, ‘Jimmy et Johnny’ (1948-49), ‘Marcello e Gianni’ and, most notably, ‘Serafino’ (1952). He was a member of the Bierecci studios, headed by Bottaro and Rebuffi, for which he created ‘Signor Giulivo’ and stories for the French pocket books (‘Kiwi’). He died in Milan in 1995.
