Mantova Italian capital of culture 2016
“The Italian capital of culture 2016 is Mantua”: this was announced with a tweet by the Minister of Cultural Heritage Dario Franceschini. “This competition – said the Minister – is very important: there was a first group of twenty four cities of which a shortlist of ten cities remained. I am therefore very proud and also convinced that next year we will have many more cities in the competition. Our objective is to design at the beginning of each year the Italian capital of culture for the following year.
Mantua is an extraordinary city, unique, a small city with an international vocation, an extraordinary heritage. We are trying to open up to the world.”
A museum-city in which culture is resident: it in fact hosts since 1997 Festivaletteratura, which gathers authors and intellectuals from all over the world and opens up the localities to hundreds of events of every type.
And Mathias, there is!
